About Lancs Green Witch
My craft name is Selene Oakshadow, and my practice is rooted in the landscape and history of Lancashire. I grew up in the shadow of Pendle Hill, a place forever associated with witchcraft, resilience, and the enduring strength of ordinary people. That sense of place shaped my path early on, and now, living in Lancaster, I continue to draw inspiration from the land, its stories, and its quiet power.
The history of the Pendle witches is not something I treat lightly or romantically. Their story speaks to endurance, injustice, and survival, and it reminds me that witchcraft has always been grounded in real lives, not fantasy. That grounding continues to inform how I practise today.
Alongside me is Rowan Ashwood, my companion and collaborator in this work. Rowan brings balance, reflection, and a steadying presence to Lancashire Green Witch. Together, we approach witchcraft as something lived rather than performed, rooted in everyday life rather than spectacle.

Our approach to witchcraft
My practice works primarily with tarot, herbs, candles, and natural materials, chosen for their symbolism, energy, and accessibility. I focus on non-baneful magic, with an emphasis on protection, wellbeing, grounding, and emotional balance. Ritual and spellwork, for me, are not about control or fear, but about intention, care, and responsibility.
Rowan and I share a belief that witchcraft should support your life, not overwhelm it. We prioritise protection and stability over intensity, and we value practices that can be sustained alongside work, family, health, and the realities of modern living.
Our work is rooted in respect for the natural world, the turning of the seasons, and the quiet rhythms of the Earth, Moon, and Sun. Magic does not need to be dramatic to be meaningful.
An inclusive, non-gatekept path
We believe witchcraft is an inclusive, evolving practice. There is no single right way to walk this path, and no hierarchy of worth based on tools, knowledge, or experience. Everyone comes to the craft carrying their own history, energy, and needs, and all of that deserves respect.
There is no gatekeeping here. Knowledge grows through sharing, reflection, and lived experience. What matters is integrity, awareness, and care, both for yourself and for others.

What you’ll find here
This website is a place where I share insights from my personal Book of Shadows, alongside reflections, practical guidance, spells, rituals, and everyday magical practices. Nothing here is presented as rigid instruction. You are encouraged to adapt what resonates, leave what doesn’t, and shape a practice that fits your own life.
Witchcraft, as we see it, is something gathered over time. It is shaped by experience, learning, mistakes, and growth. There are no fixed rules, only the wisdom you build along the way.
Supporting the work
All of the writing and guidance shared here and across my social media is offered freely. To help support the ongoing cost of maintaining this space and creating resources, I also run a small shop here on the website, as well as an Etsy shop offering handcrafted spell kits and tools. Any income made goes directly back into improving and sustaining these resources.
Help us keep this website free
Thank you for being here, and for walking this path alongside us. We hope Lancashire Green Witch offers you reassurance, clarity, and a steady place to return to as your practice grows.
