Remedy for Blocked Ears
We’ve all been there—one ear suddenly feels stuffed with cotton wool, your hearing goes fuzzy, and everything sounds like it’s underwater. Whether it’s wax build-up, the tail end of a cold, or good old-fashioned sinus pressure, the discomfort is real. Luckily, there’s a gentle, witch-approved remedy for blocked ears that skips the harsh chemicals and works in harmony with your body.
From my Lancashire hearth to yours, here’s a simple, soothing ear oil blend steeped in both herbal wisdom and magical intention.
A Witchy Take on the Remedy for Blocked Ears
Before we dive into the cauldron, a quick word of caution: if you’re experiencing severe ear pain, fever, dizziness, or discharge, this one’s not for you. Pop to the doctor, not your spice cupboard. But if you’re just dealing with mild congestion or the aftermath of a seasonal bug, this remedy may be just the comfort you need.
This is one of my favourite go-to solutions—one I’ve used myself after cold winds off the canal or when the kids bring home sniffles. It’s easy, accessible, and filled with good energy.
Witchy Ear Oil: A Natural Remedy
This remedy for blocked ears blends nourishing olive oil with the power of essential oils. Physically, it helps soften wax and ease congestion. Energetically, it brings warmth, clarity, and movement—banishing stagnation both physical and magical.
What You’ll Need:
-
Base oil: Olive oil or almond oil (2–3 drops)
-
Optional essential oils:
-
Frankincense (1 drop) – for purification and healing
-
Ginger (1 drop) – for warmth, stimulation, and energetic flow
-
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Warm the Oil
Gently warm your chosen oil until it’s just above body temperature. Add the essential oils and swirl gently to mix.
2. Set Your Intention (Optional, but lovely)
As you blend, take a moment to focus your intention. Say aloud or think:
“I release what no longer serves me. I welcome clarity and ease.”
3. Apply the Oil
Lie on your side with the blocked ear facing up. Using a clean dropper or teaspoon, place 2–3 drops into the ear canal. Stay still for 5–10 minutes to allow the oil to soften any blockage.
4. Drain and Wipe
Sit up slowly. Let the oil drain onto a cloth, then gently wipe the outer ear—never poke or prod inside.
5. Repeat if Needed
If needed, repeat once daily for up to three days.
Supporting Remedies from the Witch’s Kitchen
Need more than just one remedy for blocked ears? These natural approaches support healing gently and effectively:
-
Steam Inhalation: Add eucalyptus or clove to a bowl of hot water and inhale the vapour.
-
Warm Compresses: Hold a warm flannel against the ear to ease sinus pressure.
-
Stretch It Out: Gently move your jaw or tilt your head to encourage drainage.
-
Herbal Teas: Peppermint and ginger teas support the body’s natural clearing process.
None of these require harsh chemicals, and all of them work in tune with your own rhythms.
