Weโve all been thereโyour ear suddenly feels full, like you’re underwater, and your hearing goes fuzzy. Whether itโs from wax build-up, a lingering cold, or the unpredictable joys of sinus pressure, itโs uncomfortable and inconvenient. Fortunately, there are effective home remedies for a blocked ear that donโt involve a trip to the chemist or a bottle of harsh chemicals.
Today Iโm sharing one of my favourites: a gentle, witchy ear oil remedy thatโs as comforting as it is effective. Itโs rooted in herbal knowledge, boosted with magical intention, and entirely doable with what youโve already got in your cupboard.
Witchy Home Remedies for Ear Blockage
Before we get into the remedy, a quick but important note: if youโre experiencing severe pain, fever, dizziness, or any discharge, please see a doctor. These home remedies for ear blockage are intended for mild congestion onlyโnot infections or serious medical issues.
That said, if youโre dealing with the usual seasonal gunk or a bit of waxy build-up, this oneโs a game-changer.
Witchy Ear Oil Remedy for Blocked Ears
This remedy combines the nourishing properties of olive oil with the energetic boost of essential oilsโbringing both physical and magical benefits for clearing blocked ears.
What Youโll Need:
-
Base Oil: Olive oil or almond oil (2โ3 drops)
-
Optional Essential Oils:
-
Frankincense (1 drop): For purification and healing
-
Ginger (1 drop): For warmth, stimulation, and movement
-
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Warm the Oil
Gently warm your chosen base oil until itโs just above body temperatureโwarm, not hot. This helps with comfort and absorption. If youโre using essential oils, add one drop of each now and mix gently.
2. Set Your Intention (Optional)
This step isnโt essential, but it adds a lovely layer of magical focus. As you prepare the oil, visualise the blockage being released. Say or think:
โI release all that no longer serves me, welcoming clarity and balance.โ
3. Apply the Oil
Lie on your side with the affected ear facing up. Using a clean dropper, place 2โ3 drops into the ear canal. Relax for 5โ10 minutes to allow the oil to soften the wax.
4. Drain and Clean
Sit up slowly and let the oil drain naturally onto a tissue or cloth. Use a damp cloth to gently clean the outer earโnever insert anything inside.
5. Repeat if Needed
If youโre still feeling blocked, repeat the process once a day for up to three days.
Natural Remedies for Ear Congestion That Support Healing
Of course, this witchy oil isnโt the only tool in your cauldron. Here are a few other natural remedies for ear congestion that work beautifully alongside it:
-
Steam inhalation with eucalyptus or clove to open sinuses
-
Warm compresses to ease pressure and encourage drainage
-
Gentle jaw and neck stretches to release tension around the ear
-
Herbal teas like peppermint or ginger to support the bodyโs natural flow
All of these methods work with your body, not against itโand none of them involve dodgy chemicals or uncomfortable syringes.
